ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECTS
Integral to the Passions & Pathways Program is an entrepreneurial project. Students collaborate with a local business to resolve a problem, requiring them to draw upon their individual skills, interests, problem solving abilities and creative thinking, similar to that experienced in the βreal worldβ.
βThe upgrading of the Gaga Pit let me show my different skills and complete a project that is something amazing and newβ
BIRD BOX PROJECT
Within the California Gully Primary School grounds, tree limbs had fallen and needed to be removed following a storm. In preparation for spring, students felt that bird boxes placed in the trees and surrounding bushland would regenerate the play area with birdlife again.
California Gully PS partnered with Bendigo TAFE Construction to build bird boxes.
FOOD DRIVE PROJECT
Students at Campbells Creek Primary School noted that, on a daily basis, a lot of food is wasted that could be distributed to those in need, in the community.
As part of their social responsibility, students partnered with Bendigo Foodshare and initiated a local food drive. A total of 192kgs in food items were collected, equating to approximately 380 meals.
GAGA PIT PROJECT
Students at Maryborough Education Centre (MEC) had the idea to rejuvenate the existing Gaga Pits to make them more visually appealing.
Crameriβs Mitre 10 supplied the paint and materials needed for MEC students to undertake the project. Students created & painted designs for both the inside and outside walls of the Gaga Pit.
How can your industry work with schools on this project?
Choose your industry to explore thought starter ideas for partnering with a school on a project.
-
Safety awareness campaign: make posters, videos, or presentations about fire or community safety
-
Students create a mini performance, short play showcasing a story, event, or local community theme relevant to their local area or school. A live or recorded performance can be shared with the school or community

Students create a community safety campaign on topics like cyber safety or stranger danger, using posters, videos, or digital messages to educate others.
-
Environmental project: plan a mini garden, clean-up, or bushland restoration activity in the community

Students explore a community issue and create their own rules or guidelines, presenting them through posters, videos, or a mock council debate
-
Students produce a short film, documentary, or stop-motion animation exploring a local issue or school experience.
-
Students investigate common medicines and create an interactive display showing what they do and why theyβre important.

Design a mini travel guide or interactive tour of their local area, highlighting attractions, history, and cultural experiences for visitors. Or for a travel agent, plan a tour itinerary.
-
Students explore pet needs, design awareness campaigns and promote healthy pets in our community
-
Intergenerational project: students interview residents about their careers, compare them to the same or similar jobs today, and reflect on how those jobs have changed over time. The information is presented visually as a journal or poster.
-
Explore how raw farm products are transformed into saleable goods. Working with a simple product concept, they learn about harvesting, packaging, labelling, quality control, pricing and marketing.
-
Students design a playroom, classroom, or playground, create a diorama or model, and explore functionality, aesthetics, and practical space solutions.
-
Students collaborate with an artist to design and produce a mural that reflects the schoolβs values, local identity, or student-created stories.
